How to find your IP address on iPhone or iPad
There are two addresses to know: your public IP (what websites see) and your local Wi-Fi IP (what your router assigned). Here is how to get both.
Public IP address on iPhone (fastest)
- Open Safari (or any browser).
- Go to iphere.org.
- Your public IP address appears at the top. Tap Copy IP address to copy it.
On cellular data this is your mobile carrier's address; on Wi-Fi it is your home or office router's address. It will differ between the two.
Local Wi-Fi IP address
- Open Settings → Wi-Fi.
- Tap the ⓘ next to the network you are connected to.
- Look under IPv4 Address (and the router's address under Router).
This is a private address, usually starting with 192.168. or 10.. See public vs private IP addresses.
Private Wi-Fi Address (MAC randomization)
Newer iOS versions use a rotating Private Wi-Fi Address per network, so your local IP may change if it is toggled or after you forget and rejoin the network. This is about the hardware address, but it can lead the router to hand out a different local IP.
Why does my iPhone show a different IP on cellular?
Mobile carriers often place many phones behind shared addresses (carrier-grade NAT), and the location shown for these addresses can be far from where you really are. If you use iCloud Private Relay or a VPN, the site will see the relay's or VPN's address instead of your carrier's.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my iPhone IP location wrong?
Cellular and relay addresses map to your carrier's regional hub, not your actual position. IP location is approximate by nature.
Does a VPN change my iPhone IP?
Your public IP changes to the VPN server's. Your local Wi-Fi IP stays the same.
